Sorry I’ve been gone so long! Super busy. I went to the Illinois Library Association conference and presented there on school library collaboration. I met so me great people and made some awesome connections. More on that later if I ever get past moving all my stuff into the new apartment and getting… say… internet access?

So, the actual point of this post. My kids are tough customers these last sessions. They haven’t liked any of the regular welcome songs and claimed they were too babyish.

But they love this one! (And it’s babyish… the irony) It is a piggyback rhyme to Twinkle Twinkle.

Hand go up and hands go down,

I can turn round and round.

I can jump upon two shoes.

I can listen; so can you.

I can sit.

I’ll show you how.

Storytime is starting now.

I’m in love with it. Partly because they sit down at the end without me having to try and calm them down (see “airplane song” in previous posts). Partly because they finally like a freaking song! About time, children. So there you go. Welcome song gold. You’re welcome. (I didn’t write it by the way) I got it from Miss Meg’s Storytime Blog, which the post is subsequently and hilariously labeled “Things Are Not Working.” (Which they weren’t)
