In July I will be posting about the 2016 Rebecca Caudill nominees. These books are the children’s choice books for the state of Illinois. Students that read 3 of the books this year can vote in March for their favorite. The Caudill awards are a great opportunity to promote a place where students’ votes count. Teachers can relate this directly to civics and how voting takes place in the US.

I will be posting book reviews, trailers, book extension activities for teachers (and well, anyone), and Battle of the Books questions.

As for the contest, if you respond in the comments with:

1. your own review of the book

2. OR extension activities for these books you’ve tried out

3. OR correct answers to the Battle of the Books questions I post

…for each you will get an entry into a drawing for a free, paperback copy of any 2016 Rebecca Caudill nominee (as long as it’s not hardcover only). I will be picking the winner (who will be emailed, so make sure you either watch the comments or leave your email address) on Friday, July 31st at noon Central Standard Time.

Remember, to leave a comment you need to scroll all the way to the bottom on the individual post’s page (not the homepage).
